Many people mistakenly believe that horse riding is an unreachable noble sport, but the threshold for learning in Hong Kong is not as high as imagined. This sport not only effectively trains core muscles and improves posture but also cultivates focus and self-confidence. JC Fit City has compiled this introductory guide, ranging from horse riding locations in Hong Kong to essential safety knowledge, to help you gain a deeper understanding of equestrianism.

List of Equestrian Gear and Supplies

Beginners often feel confused by the dazzling array of equestrian equipment when they first start. In fact, entry-level riding supplies do not require purchasing expensive items all at once. The basic equipment is as follows:

● Riding Helmet: Effectively protects the head from accidental injury; riding schools usually require students to wear one.
● Riding Boots: Prevent the foot from sliding too deep into the stirrup while protecting the calf.
● Breeches (Riding Pants): Designed specifically for riding, they reduce friction and improve comfort.
● Whip/Crop: When the horse is slow to respond to leg commands, the instructor may suggest beginners carry a short whip to tap the horse's shoulder as a prompt to move forward.
● Gloves: Riding requires holding the reins for long periods. Gloves prevent blisters or abrasion on the palms and increase friction, preventing reins from slipping due to sweat and affecting control.

As for other items like safety vests, many riding schools offer rental services or suggest purchasing them only after accumulating some experience, allowing beginners to take the first step at a lower cost. When purchasing, it is recommended to choose products that fit well and meet international safety standards to ensure riding safety and comfort.
