Whether it is the scorching heat of the summer sun or sudden torrential rain, Hong Kong’s unpredictable weather is often the biggest enemy for outdoor sports enthusiasts. However, exercise doesn't have to be limited by the environment. Below, we introduce Hong Kong’s indoor tennis courts and provide a simple breakdown of tennis match rules, so even beginners can quickly get the hang of the sport.

For beginners, tennis rules may seem complicated, but once you master the essentials, it is easy to get started. First, you must understand the court markings:

Each player or team takes turns serving. The server must hit the ball into the diagonal service box. If the serve fails twice, a point is lost.
A match is usually made up of several Sets, and each set contains several Games. To win a game, a player must lead the opponent by at least two points. The scoring method is unique; instead of traditional numbers, it uses "Love" (zero), "15", "30", and "40". For example, if both sides score 3 points (i.e., 40:40), it is called "Deuce." At this point, one side must win two consecutive points to win the game; the first point won after deuce is called "Advantage."
Usually, the first to win six games and lead by at least two games wins a Set. In some cases (such as a 5:5 tie), the set may proceed to a Tie-break to determine the winner. Ultimately, the player or team that wins the required number of sets wins the match.
For citizens who love tennis, finding a suitable court is the first step to engaging in this sport. Hong Kong’s tennis courts are widely distributed, ranging from LCSD public courts in various districts to private clubs and sports centers. Generally, outdoor tennis courts are the most common, mostly using hard courts or artificial turf, offering different hitting experiences for players. When choosing a tennis court, apart from location convenience, factors such as court quality, lighting sufficiency, and the availability of changing rooms are important considerations.

Furthermore, Hong Kong's changeable weather often deters outdoor sports enthusiasts, making indoor tennis courts an ideal choice for many players.
Facing the occasional intense heat or heavy downpours in Hong Kong, indoor tennis courts are undoubtedly the best haven for tennis lovers. These venues not only isolate you from bad weather and provide a stable playing environment but also avoid direct sunlight, allowing players to sweat it out in comfortable temperatures.
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has two major indoor tennis courts available for public rental:
