Living in fast-paced, efficiency-driven Hong Kong, shuttling between skyscrapers every day, escaping the city's hustle and bustle to embrace nature is a great choice. However, the thought that a hike might take up the better part of a day often deters many busy urbanites.
In reality, you don't have to travel far to get close to nature! A "quick hike" can be a soul-cleansing journey completed in just half a day on the weekend, or even in a few spare hours. JC Fit City has selected three short hiking trails that can be completed in under 2 hours, allowing you to set off easily anytime and recharge your mind and body!

Before you set off, take note of these few tips to make your journey easier and more enjoyable:
Pack Light: All you need is enough drinking water, a few light snacks, sun protection, and your Octopus card to get going easily.

Check the Weather: Hong Kong's weather can be unpredictable. Be sure to check the latest weather forecast before you leave to ensure a safe trip.
Protect the Countryside: Remember to "take your litter home." While enjoying the beauty of nature, we must also work together to protect our beautiful environment.

The starting point for this route is at Victoria Peak, where you can first take in the magnificent view of Victoria Harbour. Whether it's the blue sky and white clouds during the day, or the brilliant sunrise and night views, it's all equally breathtaking.
Time required: Approx. 2 hours
Transportation: You can choose to take the Peak Tram, Citybus routes X15, 15, 15B, or Green Minibus route 1.

Every autumn and winter, the Sweet Gum Woods in Tai Tong turn a romantic shade of crimson, attracting numerous visitors to see the "Hong Kong version of maple leaves," making it an excellent spot for photos.
Time required: Approx. 2 hours
Transportation: You can take public transport to the "Tai Tong Shan Road" bus stop, then walk up the road to the starting point at the Tai Tong barbecue area. Relevant routes include MTR Bus K66 or the public minibus departing from Chitose Centre in Yuen Long.

Features: If you are interested in Hong Kong's unique geological features, this route is a must-see. Along the way, you can get a close-up look at the hexagonal volcanic rock columns formed by weathering, as well as spectacular views of the rocky shores, and marvel at the craftsmanship of nature.
Time required: Approx. 2 hours
Transportation: You can take KMB route 94 from Sai Kung town centre, or routes 96R or 289R which run only on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, and get off at the Sheung Yiu bus stop. Alternatively, you can take the holiday-only Green Minibus route 9A from Pak Tam Chung to the East Dam of High Island Reservoir.

Hong Kong is full of mountains. Discovering the joy of these short routes can make hiking a part of your life, no longer an out-of-reach luxury. This weekend, why not pick one of these three trails, invite friends or family, and go on a spontaneous "quick trip" to inject a full dose of healthy, positive energy into your life!
